Lighting Depth

The lighting depth Addresses lighting solutions for Atrium, studio, library and green roof taking into consideration better visual comfort and efficient lighting systems. The lighting Solutions influenced by the concept of cityscape that relates the highway with its surroundings. This is taking the architects main concept of interactivity, exchange and connection through different spaces  to a deep meaning and appearance in the building.

Electrical Depth

The CBEIS is using efficient powering systems that include a high voltage rating for safety reasons. It also has all the emergency systems required by the IBC. Emergency lighting, fire alarm system, security system, communication, and smoke control system all providing a sufficient protection in emergency cases. Therefore, no big electrical changing will be proposed but redesigning for branch circuits and short circuits will be done to meet with the proposal lighting loads and provide protection the needed in the four spaces.

Acoustical Breadth

Acoustical analysis will be done in the library to ensure a quite and a comfortable study environment. This study will be done for existed material for the entire room and compare it with different absorption materials. The major change centers on the change in type of ceiling configuration and ceiling materials. Sound isolation and background noise control is the goal of this analysis. Therefore, three areas in acoustics will be studied in the ceiling tiles using NRC recommendations and spreadsheets: sound transmission loss, sound transmission class and background noise. Based on the analysis, the library acoustical environment will be redesigned to meet the library acoustic guidelines, which might not only include different materials in the ceiling, but also around the room.

Mechanical Breadth

The main idea from the mechanical breadth is to determine whether changing the type of glass of the skylight of the atrium decrease the loading energy (heating and cooling loads). Using Skycalc spreadsheet tool that helps determining the optimum sky lighting strategy to maximize the energy savings for a space could do this.   Graphics of potential heating and cooling loads will be produced for the atrium skylight by comparing three different glass materials.

The results of the study will be documented and used to help making decisions about the mechanical systems. Resizing or redesigning these systems could be done in the atrium space to reduce the heating and cooling loads. Also, the analysis will help picking the best material to be used in the space taking into consideration cost savings/increases as well.
